The Kids are not allright: Uvalde School massacre, Suffer the children

CBS-World leaders react to school shootings

Suffer the children. The well known phrase originally referred to a biblical scripture in which Jesus turns his outreach and sermons to children during his teachings. The renowned author Stephen King in his novel Suffer the Children gave a more gruesome meaning in his book of a teacher who sees her students as something unhuman and is overcome with fear that leads to an unspeakable act.

The Young Turks-Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian on Uvalde School Massacre response

On May 24, 2022, the little town of Uvalde, Texas, home to roughly 12, 109 people witnessed the massacre of 19 children and 2 teachers at Robb Elementary School by yet another 18 year old gunman Salvador Ramos or should we say terrorist (in the true sense of the word). We know now, the Texas Public Safety Department has now reported that the police response some 19 officers breaching the door to save the children was delayed for an hour as the gunman terrified, taunted and targeted the five to ten year old students who called 9/11 dispatchers. Meanwhile their frantic and equally horrified parents pleaded with police to save the children. The police kept the parents from rushing into the building, unlike movies or crime tv shows, trying to save your loved ones in a deadly situation can end tragically. The 19 officers had wrongly thought the active shooter situation had deescalated and the gunman no longer posed a threat. Their misjudgment and delayed action is now being condemned by the families of the 19 children and 2 teachers alongside the dead gunman's massacre. The grief and sorrow will never ceases as its an unthinkable thing for a parent to bury a child. The Uvalde massacre came just 10 days after the Buffalo supermarket massacre killed 8 elderly innocent women and men in a calm, quiet neigborhood of Buffalo, New York. The United States has long prided itself on protecting the rights of children and the elderly. It preaches to the rest of the world on how to safeguard children, how to prepare children for the future, etc. Currently, the Conservatives and Libertarians have gone the extra step in possibly overturning Roe vs Wade in making abortions illegal in some twenty states. For years, the conversavtive journalists, politicians, pundits and speakers (both parties) have made it their life's mission to protect the fetus, sperm and eggs but do not see the irony in not protecting the living and breathing children from violence and terror that visits their schools, homes and elsewhere.

CBS News Texas police response questioned

Senator Chris Murphy (D) from Connecticut response to Uvalde Massacre. Murphy lost his son in the 2012 Sandy Hook School massacre.

We all know the United States holds the record for unnecessary amounts of gun violence and terrifying school massacres that targets children from kindergarten all the way up to college. Every year the rest of the world wonders why it keeps happening in a country that boasts to protect children and families. Other Americans keep scratching their heads and many people ask why are gun rights seen as an untouchable taboo issue to tackle. Why does the idea of addressing the Second Amendant of the Constitution bring out the unironic violent response from gun advocates, owners, the pundits and politicians? Why is that in America especially in Texas, the foolish governor passed a bill without thinking of allowing 18 year olds to buy their own guns, when 18 year olds don't have the right to vote or rent a car? The Uvalde School massacre and the Buffalo Tops store massacre has left many people speechless. Including this author. The videos above and below should aid the reader in further understanding hopefully, the madness that is gun violence terror and the cycle of denial that the pundits do. To add insult, the NRA had the nerve to host a conference in Houston some 300 miles away from Uvalde over the weekend of May 27-29th.
